Marita De Leon

My half-German-half-Mexican background has had EVERYTHING to do with who I am today. My parents instilled in us a love for family, animals, art, language, culture, education, and a desire to make learning a life long habit.

A former athlete and USC graduate, I had the fortune of immediately upon graduation becoming a working actress. After years in front of the camera, I am a stylist for film and television. Years later, I have found that this brings in a paycheck, but does not fulfill my desires.

I have been a yoga practitioner & teacher since the 90’s. I have taken advanced teacher training with some of the greats-Eric Schiffman, Desiree Rambaugh, Jeanne Heileman, and Leslie Bogart. I became certified to teach after losing my daughter Senya at birth.

Today, teaching is a regular part of my life. I practice yoga not only for myself, but for my children. I want to instill in them the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and the value of having a strong body. No matter how young or ‘old’ we are, no matter our physical limitations, anyone can have a yoga practice-and benefit from it.
These are the lessons I hope to share with others through my yoga teaching.

I enjoy a flow style of Hatha Yoga, Vini-Yoga, and the alignment based Iyengar Yoga. I love melding these variations together to build strength and flexibility, while encouraging proper alignment. Go to your edge!

Lynda

Lynda began her yoga journey in 1998 and instantly connected with the mantras and meditations of Kundalini Yoga at Yoga West here in Los Angeles. She completed Kundalini Yoga teacher training and has certificates in Yin and Restorative Yoga.

Lynda has taught at: Silverlake Yoga, Mount St. Mary’s University, LA Mission College, YMCA of the Foothills, Spiral Path Yoga and TheraYoga. She holds a massage therapist certification from the renowned San Francisco School of Zen Shiatsu and recently excitedly retired from 27 years as an Elementary Dance Teacher for LAUSD.

Lynda is overjoyed with joining the GreenSpaceYoga teaching team and community!
